This is an oldie but goodie for me. I am a flip flop freak and have been known to wear a pair that doesn't match, due to a messy pile and a serious lack of lightning. Or maybe because I don't always pay attention too well.
Who wears scarves in the desert? Meeee! I have to admit, I live in the 'high' desert so we do get pretty chilly during the winter months. Even down right cold, when the temps hit the teens. Being fashionable is pretty important for those who wear the scarf to work or school. None of use want our collection to be twisted and scrunched when we go to put it on. Solution - super easy and just cost pennies, sort of. The hanger you have, tho I do recommend a wood hanger if you want to avoid the sliding rings. The rings are simple shower curtain rings that you can pick up from the dollar store.
You got ties? There's a ton of racks and special hangers made for ties but, if you would like to do an affordable and quick fix, copy the idea for the scarves.
Back to the shoes, but this time we go from skimpy to full coverage - boots. Boots are not an inexpensive item, ever. Who wants them stepped on, scuffed up from dirty tennies, or get creases from not being flat? Again with the hangers - skirt or pant hangers now. Simple, but I would suggest being thoughtful when hooking to keep any marks that may be made, not obvious.
Often we buy clothing that comes with extra buttons. I have never been able to figure out if this is a message to the purchaser that the buttons are destine to fall off, or if the manufacturer is being nice. Not matter - what do we do with those extra buttons? We probably loose them. The little bags of buttons find a way to slip and hide and take more time to find then it takes to go to the store and get a whole new set. Let correct this issue, simply. The answer is to grab one of those empty Altoids tins that we have and utilize it to the max.
While we are at it, we can use the tins for lots of other items - ear buds, sewing kit, nuts, bolts, change, etc.
One last suggestion here.
This may not be a closet concept but it is a great use of the hanger and very helpful to all those with kids who like to play in the rain or snow. Or the family with adults who like playing like a kid.
Wet caps, gloves, and scarves tend to get throw on the closest piece of furniture to the door. Not good for the furniture or the clothing. If you have coat hooks by the door, that may be a convenient place for you hanger. Or, you may want to add a hook to the back side of the door, and add the hook during those wet times of the year.
