Fancy Up Basics for Holiday Entertaining

You always want to be that host that is always prepared.  Ya want your guest, especially those who show up unannounced or last minute, to be in total shock at what you can throw together.  When they say " How did you do this?", you want to say "What this this?  No biggy".   So let's take a look at a couple of little desserts that will impress your guest.

The biggest problem with having the ingredients for these kabobs is keeping the sweets in the house to start with.  The sticks are easy to keep around.  So - what will it take for this treat?  Prepackaged swiss rolls; plain or roasted coconut marshmallows, strawberries ( but you can use any sturdy fruit you have on hand ), and then for the topper, use your imagination and anything in your cabinet.  I would use oatmeal cookies or packaged brownies, pressed together into a roll and then dipped in chocolate bark.  If you don't keep prepackaged items on hand, a quick trip to the nearest convenience market will cover your needs.

Following on the same line of the kabob, with a little less chocolate, and frozen cream puffs.  Again, you can use any fruit that is in season or you have on hand to make this treat.  If you want to really add some excitement to this plate, add some drizzled caramel sauce or switch it up to a white chocolate.

Kids, young and old, would love this treat.  It is a little bit healthy and a whole lot delishous.

And just one more thing for now, for that early morning group.  Mini pancakes are always a hit but with a little bit extra effort, you can make an amazing morning snack.  This kabob consist of a couple of mini pancakes, sliced strawberries and bananas and a bit of strawberry preserves.  Options?  Replace the preserves with caramel sauce or powder sugar.

Guess there has been a theme here.  I really like kabobs, dipping chocolate, and the combination of fruit and chocolate.  Use these ideas or create your own, but always be prepared for the unexpected guest.
