I own semi-aquatic turtles and they get their container cleaned every few days. The means that they are handled quite often.
These turtles are known for carrying salmonella, which is not going to harm you so long as you wash your hands well after you are done. Add in all the other activities that go on that can make life a little 'dirty', we could be going thru a lot of dish soap and hand soap. But we don't because of this simple little process.
Think about this - it is something that I have been doing for the past few years and might be a great thing for your family also.
No matter what brand of liquid dish and hand soap you use, they are probably of a consistency that is much thicker than needed. The thickness helps to keep it on your hand longer but not necessary. You can take an empty hand soap bottle (recycling the empty is good) and do a mixture of 2 parts soap to 1 part water. I suggest adding the water first and the the soap so as not to have suds preventing you from completing your task. Label you bottles appropriately and you are ready.
Now you may think that this is just a waste of time and effort for saving a few cents per bottle, but if you could reduce you entire house hold cleaning expenses by 30%, that would start adding up fast.
Think green, think recycle, think savings !
