Desserts For This Season - Cookies First

Oh yeah - time for Thanksgiving and fall type desserts and this is going to be a great year.  There's cookies and pies and hot drinks and all kinds of new goodies.  Now that the schools are so limited in what they allow to be brought in, a lot of the fun stuff will be for the home celebrations.

Let's check out some great cookies that the kids and adults will all enjoy. Not only enjoy eating but making also.

These turkey cookies are just too darn cute.  One of the best part of this treat is that the base could be a premade cookie, if you have limited time,  or you could make it from scratch.  I think this would be great with many different types - peanut butter cookie, ginger cookie, pumpkin cookie or a basic sugar cookie.  All would be delicious.  Maybe an assortment would be super.

What will you need?  The cookie, pretzel pieces (this is a great way to use those pieces in the bottom of the bag), candy corn, slivered almonds, white chocolate chips, mini chocolate chips, and chocolate frosting.   And you will need a bit of patience if you want to involve the kids.  They are sure to want to eat the parts before cookies are complete.

Hummm - is this really a cookie or more like candy?  It is amazingly cute.  Not difficult to make. And different from anything I have seen in the past.

Turkey parts are - Oreo cookies, malted milk balls for the head, peanut butter cups for the body, candy corn for the feathers and the tips for the beaks, a little yellow frosting in the tiny tube, red tiny tube frosting for the waddle, and a bit of chocolate frosting would be great to hold in the candy corn feathers.  With a bit of searching you could replace the peanut butter cup and make this a nut free treat for those who need have to avoid the nuts.  Also - perhaps a bit of fruit leather would make for a great waddle too.

All fall season, this will be a great one to make.  For sure you will want to start with a basic sugar cookie, add the chocolate chips for the eyes and an almond for the eyes.   Who wouldn't enjoy this little treat at home, office or party?

Pumpkins cookies are not just for Halloween.  These are simple and pretty.  Perfect way to add fall colors to the house and table.  With a bit of food coloring gel, you can take a tub of premade frosting or your frosting from scratch and have great colors.  Cookie cutters are available on line or in your favorite craft store.
And just one more -

This is so darn much fun.  What grand parent would not love to see their grand kids hand print turn into a cookie?  Once you get the sugar cookie cut to the shape of the hand, the rest is easy.  Just add the candy corn, chocolate chips and a bit of red frosting or a cut little piece of fruit leather for the waddle.

Have fun with these cookie ideas and check back later for more dessert ideas.  Please share your own if you like.
